Grace revisited... it's our turn...

good things...

good things come. not just to those who wait. it comes to everyone...

or at least that's how it supposed to work... isn't it?

my journey of the last few years has been rather good.

good for me...

good for my daughter...

good for my wife...

unexpectedly good...

but it would not have been if not for the people (family, friends, strangers) who helped us through our journey through the hard and trying parts of it...

we owe much to these people.

the friends who opened up their homes and treated us like family.

the friends who spoke truth to us, didn't judge us and pushed us to think differently and seek better...

well... what's next?

it's our turn.

i fully see how grace has been shown to us and now it must flow out from us.

how?

well... in lots of ways i'm sure but i think God gave us pretty good direction in this.

Jane likes to remind me that we are called to look after the orphans and widows (James 1:27 & Deuternomy 14:29)

that's a good start since i at one time fit both of those descriptions and many people looked after me...

so we started having friends (mostly single) over for dinner once a week... sort of an informal standing dinner party.  not `that any of these people are in real need of us feeding them, not by a long shot.  but it gives these friends of ours a place to be that can be a safe place to develop community with others whom they may not have a lot in common.  who come from different backgrounds and life experiences.

it's a start.  for now, it's what we can do.  it's not all that we can do... but its what we can do now.

we do have bigger dreams and ideas of things we want to do with our home as far as opening it up for God's work...

but for now it serves as a our first chance to allow the grace  bestowed upon us, to flow out from us...

and feeding people,  fellowshipping over and around food is what we enjoy...

so what better place to start?
